Less than a week has passed since its release, and Black Ops 2 is already victoriously striding across the planet: more than 10 million copies sold (if not already 20) and the number will not stop there. But a very reasonable question arises: has the game become of better quality compared to previous games in the series?? After all, the developers from Treyarch did not hide the fact that the game is being developed on the old engine, which has been used in the Call of Duty series since 2005. The engine is old, but this is a new look at the series. And first things first.
And we’ll start with a plot that immediately throws us into hell. Good old Alex Mason with a gun in his hands on the armor of some armored personnel carrier is going to shoot hundreds of blacks in a separate banana republic. The level of cranberry and recklessness is already at a high level, which does not fall until the end of the game. Characters change, so does time. The narrative, as stated during the development process, is conducted in two time frames: the 80s of the 20th century and 2025. In the 80s, in addition to the Alex Mason I mentioned, there is also another old character: Frank Woods, who, as it turns out, did not die in the first Black Ops. It’s clear that the characters are not limited to these two people, but I won’t spoil it. But in 2025 we play for another Mason, David, Alex’s son. Who followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the ranks of the JSOC counter-terrorism unit. The plots, by the way, are closely intertwined, and some decision in the past will affect the future. Yes, variety of passages! And yes, in Call Of Duty! Treyarch did not lie and actually made a non-linear passage, which greatly influences the ending of the game. A kind of copy of Mass Effect 3.
Strike Force mode was also added to pocketwin-casino.co.uk the single. In it, under your control, there will be several infantry squads, all sorts of robots, drones. That is, a kind of tactical simulator. But since Call of Duty has always been a shooter, we were given the opportunity to control one of the units ourselves. And that’s when Strike Force looks more like CoD. Although you may not even touch this mode. All that this regime influences is the geopolitical situation in the world. Which again looks like Mass Effect 3. I hope this is just a coincidence..
But the best thing is, it’s fun to play. It may be the same corridor, but compared to MW3, the game is based not only on scripts, but also on an interesting connection between them in the form of gameplay. The developers are constantly throwing out new entertainment: either they let you ride a horse, or they give you control of an airplane in the destroyed Los Angeles. If we consider the shooter component, it has not undergone any changes, but pressing the trigger, mowing down crowds of enemies, is still pleasant.
I won’t talk for long about the single-player part, because I’ll still drown in spoilers, which is better to avoid. And I’ll move on to the story about the changes in the multiplayer component. The gameplay, of course, hasn’t changed much, but the class system has changed. First, about the class system: now we have 10 slots at our disposal, which are occupied by weapons, perks, grenades and so-called Wildcards, which allow you to carry either 2 main guns (for example, two machine guns instead of a set of machine gun + pistol, as was usually the case), or two perks from one group. Each item (be it a perk or weapon) takes up one slot, and thanks to this, the customization options now take on colossal proportions. You can fill all the barrels with body kits, remove all the perks, or vice versa, cover yourself with perks and throw away the main weapon and run only with a pistol (or generally only with a knife). Everything is limited only by your imagination. Although the dark titans of loneliness have already found options for the ideal sniper or butcher, we will not look at them and will come up with everything ourselves. This is you playing 🙂
Well, a separate line is worth mentioning the Zombie mode, which is a distinctive feature of all games from Treyarch. Here again, there are no special changes, everything is painfully familiar from the days of Black Ops: waves of zombies that need to be shot, machine guns for weapon upgrades, filling up holes left by zombies, etc. But two modes were added to this: survival with rides on buses and a confrontation between teams pitting zombies against each other, in which it would be better to survive yourself. In the “bus” mode, it is logical to assume that they added a bus that moves in a circle between five locations. If you’re late, it’s okay – he’ll be back. It’s just not a fact that you will live to see his return. MUHAHA!
In conclusion, it is worth saying that Call of Duty, while unchanged from year to year, this time looks cheerful and fresh thanks to the work of the designers. Having improved IW Engine 3, they were able to produce a beautiful picture, which of course does not reach the level of Battlefield 3, but is not eye-watering with its wretchedness.
